We would like to extend a warm welcome to the two new members of staff who have joined the Department of Mathematics recently: Dr Gerald Marewo and Prof. Mikhail Petrov.


 Dr. Marewo joined UNISWA in November 2007. He holds an M.Sc and PhD degree in Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modeling from the University of Zimbabwe. In the academic year 2008/2009 he will teach the following courses:

  • M211 – Calculus 1
  • M331 – Real Analysis
  • MS202 – Quantitative Techniques
  • M411 – Numerical Analysis II

Prof. Petrov joined the Department in July 2008. He holds an MSc and PhD degree from the St Petersburg State University (Russia). He boasts of over 30 years of University teaching experience and has published over 40 articles in International Journals. In the academic year 2008/2009 he will teach the following courses:

  • M215 – Foundations of Mathematics
  • M431 – Metric Spaces
  • M455 – Fluid Mechanics
  • M312 – Vector Analysis
  • M412 – Special Functions
